So, the first part of the FCC spectrum auction is done, and even though we don't have the winner...we know it's at least partly Google. After they "exerted their influence" over the normally completely evil FCC Chairman Kevin "no, I am not 12 years old. I work here." Martin, the Commission set rules that said if the auction price broke $4.7 billion, the owner would have to open the spectrum up to any phone from anyone. Call it "wireless network neutrality." Well, at least one bid was a whopping $4.7 billion dollars.
The Commission hasn't announced much yet, but no matter who owns it, we know who won. Google. And us.
Google wins!
