In addition to the normal April 15th shenanigans, the 4 lucky men (and one lucky woman) of the FCC get to testify before Ed Markey (D-MA)'s Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet.
Specifically, Markey and friends want to know about the 700mhz auction. Based on Markey's comments during the Cambridge Net Neutrality hearing, and Chairman Martin's remarks at CTIA, I suspect they will be especially interested in the "D Block" that was supposed to be used for public safety and first responders, but for some reason run by private industry. Of course, the reserve price wasn't met.
I also have a feeling there will be questions about the Comcast-Bittorrent "settlement" as well as Martin's announcement that while he loves open access, he doesn't love it enough to extend Carterfone, which has been settled law for years, to existing wireless networks. Translation: why do you gleefully give incumbents a free pass on anticompetitive behavior when they only opened their networks under duress (unless you believe Richard Lynch's remarks last week).
I'll reserve judgment until tax day. Thankfully, I've already filed, so I can enjoy the hearing.
